Everest Circuit Trekking

One of the most daring treks in the Himalayas, Everest Circuit Trekking is famous for its tough trek route. The route that goes via the high pass of Cho La at 5330meters takes us to the Everest Base Camp. This amazing trekking route takes you to Lukla, Namche bazaar. After which it continues to Gokyo, Chola Pass, Kalapattar and Everest Base Camp.

Everest Circuit Trekking takes you to the foothills of the highest peak in the world, Mt. Everest at 8848 meters. Following the most famous route through the Dudh Koshi to its source the Gokyo Lake that is to the west of the Everest Base Camp, Everest circuit trekking, gives you the amazing opportunity to summit Gokyo Peak (5483 meters) from where you can see the fantastic panoramic view of Cho Oyo, Everest and Makalu.

The same route takes us back to Lukla, you’ll be enjoying the breathtaking views of Everest including several other similar peaks and explore the Buddhists monasteries located at the world’s highest altitude. Everest circuit trekking is most suitable from beginning of March to end of May and beginning of September to end of December. And you can always change up the itinerary according to your travel plan or holiday.

Itinerary

We will wake up early in the morning to take our flight to Lukla from Kathmandu Airport. If the weather will clear, we will get to see stunning views of the Himalayas including Mt. Everest (8,848 m). Upon reaching Lukla, we will begin trekking towards Phakding. We will ascend on the left bank of the Dudh Koshi River and trek for around two hours to reach Phakding village. We will stay overnight in the lodge.

We will follow a trail to the Dudh Koshi valley in the north. Further, we will cross two small suspension bridge and reach Monjo. Monjo is the entrance of the Sagarmatha National park. From here, we will ascend to Jhorsalle passing through beautiful waterfalls, small villages, and lovely forest of rhododendron, fir, and magnolia. Then, ascending steeply will finally lead us to Namche Bazaar. We will stay overnight in the lodge.

Today is our first acclimatization day in Namche Bazaar. Namche Bazaar is one of the biggest village of this entire region, and also the main residential area of Sherpa's. The whole day is free, we can go on the short excursion to Everest View Hotel from where we can get amazing views of Everest and other surrounding mountains. We will also stroll around the market and have some quality time. Overnight in the lodge.

We will trek on the mail trail to Thyangboche and later ascend on the side of Khumbila Peak. From here, we ascend and reach Mon La. Below us we will see a junction of the Dudh Koshi River and Imja Khola and across Thyangboche monastery framed by Mt. Ama Dablam (6,812 m) and Mt. Kantega (6,782 m). Further, we will descend steeply through a forest to the Dudh Koshi River and walk to reach Phortse Tenga. We will stay overnight in the camp.

Today, the first half of our trek will take us to Dole. The trail will, of course, be scenic and goes through a beautiful forest of pine, rhododendron & birch, yak pasture, and waterfalls. From Dole, we will continue ascending towards the Machhermo village. Machhermo is a small village with few buildings and residents. We will stay overnight in the camp.

We will ascend towards the Gokyo village. We will stop at Pangka to enjoy excellent views of Cholatse. Further, we will trek onto a moraine with the superb view of Mt. Cho Oyu (8,201 m) in the north and Kantega (6,782 m) in the south. We will continue ascending and reach the first lake, Longponga and go through other lake and reach Gokyo Village. We will also see Ngozumpa Glacier, the largest glacier of Nepal on our way. Overnight in the camp.

We will wake up early in the morning and go on a hike to Gokyo Ri. We will get to see gorgeous views of Ngozumpa glacier, the biggest glacier of Nepal along with Mt. Everest ( 8,848 m), Mt. Lhotse (8,516 m), Mt. Cho Oyu (8,201 m). We will also see Thonak Tsho (fourth lake) and Ngozuma Tsho (fifth lake) from here. After spending some time at Gokyo Ri, we will trek back to Gokyo.

Today, we trek towards Thagnak. The trail takes us to Cho La from where we will see panoramic views of Mt. Cho Oyu (8,201 m) and Cholatse (6,440 m). If we are lucky, we may get to see the glimpse of Himalayan Thar on the rocky slopes. We will stay overnight in the camp.

Today the trail will be a little challenging than other days. If the weather is stable we can cross Cho-la Pass (5,367 m) without any special gear. We will trek around the ridge and reach Dzongla where we are going to stay for a night. We will stay overnight in the camp.

We will trek above the village of Chola and leave Cholatse Lake behind us. Further, we ascend and see Mt. Nuptse in front of us rising above Khumbu Glacier. From here, we will join the busy trail of Thyangboche to Lobuche where we will see a huge crowd of people and yaks. We will stay overnight in the lodge.

We will wake up early in the morning and begin our journey towards Everest Base Camp. The trail includes rocky dunes, moraines, streams, and glacial paths. Upon reaching the base camp, we will see the panoramic view of Mt. Everest (8,848 m) along with other surrounding mountains. After spending some time at Everest Base Camp, we will return back to Gorak Shep.

We will wake up early in the morning and begin our trek towards Kala Patthar. We will see the 360-degree panoramic view of Mt. Everest (8,848 m) and other surrounding mountains from here. We will spend some time at Kala Patthar and soak the beauty of it in our memories. After that, we will trek back to Periche where we are going to stay for a night.

Today, we are going to trek back to Namche Bazaar. The trail will take us to Dingboche, and from there we will descend gradually towards Namche Bazaar. We will trek along with the views of Mt. Everest (8,848 m), Mt. Lhotse (8,516 m), Mt. Ama Dablam (6,812 m), Mt. Nuptse (7,861 m), Mt. Thamserku (6,623 m), and many more. We will stay overnight in the lodge.

We will begin trekking by crossing a suspension bridge. Further, we will trek through a dense forest of rhododendron and pine and reach Phakding. Trekking along the bank of Dudh Koshi River, we will reach Lukla. Upon reaching Lukla, we will have lunch and rest of the day is free to relax and explore the nearby areas. We will stay overnight in the lodge.

We will fly back to Kathmandu today after having morning tea. the flight will offer the last views of the Himalayas. Upon reaching Kathmandu, you will be taken to your hotel. The rest of the day is free for you to relax and explore the vibrant streets of Thamel.
